Marco Polo
According to the legend (and some obscure medieval data) Korčula is the birth place of Marco Polo – the most famous world traveller! All who visit this beautiful island can take a peak at Marco Polo's house located north from the St.Mark's cathedral at the very centre of Korčula's Old Town.
The Moreska Dance
In the old times a dance called "Moreška" was performed along the entire cost of the Adriatic Sea but today one can only see it in Korčula. Inhabitants of Korčula have been performing this play-like dance for more then 400 hundred years and the dance itself shows a sword fight between two kings (black king and red king) who have drawn their swords in the name of love (both of kings are in love with the same girl). This play draws its roots from Mauritania.

Old Town with its ancient buildings and narrow streets, nine churches located in the very centre of Old Town, high walls surrounding the whole island represent true heaven for those who love history and exploring.
